What is Project Search?
Project Search is an internationally recognized evidenced based transition program, for students with disabilities.
It is a one year school to work program, for student ages 18-21 in their final year of school eligibility.
Utilizing 3 internship rotations, students are totally immersed in the workplace with the support of a teacher and
job coaches. The goal is competitive employment upon successful completion of the program.
Project SEARCH on Long Island is a partnership between Eastern Suffolk BOCES,
Suffolk Independent Living Organization, Long Island Parent Center, ACCES/VR, and Office of People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD).

Suffolk Independent Living Organization provides the job and ancillary support services
for the students involved in Project Search. We provide the job coaches who assist the student
learn and master the job responsibilities, transportation training, and any other type of support
needed by the student to achieve success at the work site.
Suffolk Independent Living Organization espouses the beliefs of Project Search because we

high skill, high demand careers.
