SILO facilitates a transportation committee that meets regularly. Its committee members range from county officials, social workers and our partners at other community agencies. It advocates for safety, accessibility and affordability. The committee works to educate the public and our consumers on the use of the transit system, which includes both Fixed-Route and Para Transit systems.
On Monday, March 16, 2015 the Suffolk County Public Works, Transportation & Energy Committee met in Hauppauge. The Committee arranged for two buses on display so they may have a better understanding of the differences to address constituents concerns.
Those in attendance SILO board Members, Executive Director Joseph M. Delgado, staff and consumers were given the opportunity to view and demonstrate safety issues of the recently purchased 1400 series Paratransit Vans. Some of the concerns addressed were:

June 25th, 2015 SILO MET WITH SC LEGISLATOR
AL KRUPSKITO REQUEST EXTENDED HOURS
On June 25 SILO met with SC Legislator Al Krupski Chairman of the SC Public Works Committee as well as representatives of the SC Department of Public Works and Suffolk Bus Corp. This meeting was requested by Alice Young SILO Director of Government and Community Relations and Joe Delgado SILO Executive Director. The purpose of this meeting was to request an extension of hours for Disabled Scat/Paratransit Riders from 8:30 pm to 10 pm as well as initiating Sunday Transportation for these folks. Furthermore, SILO is requesting a 3 Month Pilot Program to initiate the above mentioned suggestions to help our Disabled Clients feel more independent and self sufficient. more
